News Mamma Mia! to Expand Internationally News comes that Mamma Mia! — the ABBA catalogue musical — is set to expand its international reach. Six new productions are planned to add to the ten already playing around the world.

The first Korean–language production will open at the Seoul Arts Centre on Jan 25. Then, following two sell-out years at Hamburg’s Operettenhaus, a second German production is being prepared for a July opening at Stuttgart’s Palladium Theatre. A new English-language international tour will begin at The Point in Dublin on Sept. 9, moving to Edinburgh’s Playhouse on Nov. 12 until January 2005. After, the tour will move to the European continent. Also in November 2004, another European production will debut (to be announced late January), while February 2005 will see a Swedish language production at Stockholm’s Cirkus Theatre.

Mamma Mia currently has ten productions worldwide — five in North America, an Australasian tour, Japan, Germany, Holland. And of course London, where the show transfers from the Prince Edward Theatre to the Prince of Wales Theatre in May 2004. Since it opened in April 1999, the London show has been seen by around 3 million theatregoers, with a box-office gross of more than £100 million.
