The In the Heights star will be succeeded by Teal Wicks beginning Feb. 1.

In a recent interview with Playbill.com, Gonzalez spoke about her favorite moments and experiences working in the hit musical, explaining, "I love working with Katie Rose Clarke and having developed that relationship, because I find that she's a very honest actress and our characters grow together. So, the first moment that we dance together, during the Ozdust Ballroom [scene], when I first realize that somebody's kind of taking my side, that's one of my favorite moments in the show. 'The Wizard and I' is one of my favorite moments because you just get to feel, 'Oh, my gosh, somebody just said that I might be able to do something,' and you get to feel all of her inhibitions [start to fade]. She just gets to let loose with everything and just tell you what she's thinking, and I just love going through that every night. And then I love flying. [Laughs.] I love taking the flight every night."

The cast also currently includes Katie Rose Clarke as Glinda, Kyle Dean Massey as Fiyero. Kathy Fitzgerald as Madame Morrible, P.J. Benjamin as The Wizard, Jenny Fellner as Nessarose, Etai BenShlomo as Boq and Tom Flynn as Dr. Dillamond.

Based on Gregory Maguire's novel, which turned every Oz myth inside out, Wicked explores the early life of the witches of Oz: Glinda and Elphaba. The two main characters meet at Shiz, a school where both hope to take up sorcery. Glinda is madly popular and Elphaba is, well, green. By a misunderstanding, they wind up roommates and, after an initial period of mutual loathing, begin to learn something about each other. Their life paths continue to intersect through a shared love, entry into the Emerald City and interaction with the Wizard himself. Eventually, their choices and convictions take them on widely different journeys.
