News Mandy Greenfield Is New Artistic Director of Williamstown Theatre Festival Mandy Greenfield, who is currently the artistic producer of Manhattan Theatre Club, has been named the new artistic director of the Williamstown Theatre Festival.

Greenfield will succeed Jenny Gersten, who is departing Williamstown to become the executive director of the New York City non-profit Friends of the High Line. In 2010 Gersten was appointed the first female artistic director of the Massachusetts theatre company. In September 2014, Greenfield will become Williamstown's second woman artistic director.

Gersten is currently planning programming for Williamstown's 2014 season, which will include the previously announced production of Kander and Ebb's The Visit, starring Chita Rivera.

Williamstown producer Stephen Kaus will oversee the season. Greenfield will take over as artistic director following the conclusion of Williamstown's 60th anniversary season.

Greenfield's work at MTC included overseeing programming on the New York City non-profit's two Off-Broadway stages and its Broadway home, the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Greenfield is a member of the Broadway League, serves on the advisory board of the Drama League, and is a judge for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize. Greenfield graduated magna cum laude from Yale University.

"I am thrilled to build upon the rich history of the Williamstown Theatre Festival and create bold, adventurous work with the company," Greenfield said in a statement. "I look forward to producing theatre with writers, directors, designers, actors, and apprentices passionate about making great art, in a spectacular and singular environment, in the seasons ahead. I am excited to work with the festival's devoted board, unwavering supporters, and loyal audiences to sustain and grow one of the great American cultural treasures."
