Movie musical king Marc Platt has assembled a team of some of the hottest names on Broadway and in Hollywood to create a new film about the golden age of “industrials”—Broadway musical style stage commercials of the 1950's-1980's.

Steven Levenson, librettist of Dear Evan Hansen, will collaborate with the Hairspray and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory songwriting team of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman for a musical based on the book, Everything Is Coming Up Profits: The Golden Age Of Industrial Musicals, according to Deadline.com.

Film stars and Saturday Night Live alumni Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig reportedly are attached, presumably to star.

Some of Broadway’s top stars and creatives, from Bob Fosse to Kander & Ebb worked on industrials for various companies, though the annual Millikin Show was regarded as the gold standard.

The new, original musical will be produced by Amblin Entertainment for Universal Pictures. No timetable for the production was reported.
