PlayBlog Marching on the Met We thought you would enjoy this amusing story that will run in the March issue of the Metropolitan Opera Playbill:

When a group of West Point cadets visited the Met in January, little did they know they’d be called into service. Thanks to an underwriting gift from Met Managing Director Laura J. Sloate, members of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point—all first-time opera-goers—were invited to see a performance of Carmen. But when patrons spotted the uniformed young soldiers and took them for ushers, the amused cadets found themselves directing audience members to their seats. Note to West Point administration: you may need to expand your motto to “Duty. Honor. Country. Opera.”
