News Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich Workshopping New Musical Revue, Screaming Like a Fool Songwriting duo Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich — whose family-friendly Dear Edwina will make another return to Off-Broadway's DR2 Theatre later this season — are currently workshopping their new musical revue at the Running Deer Musical Theatre Lab in Trout Lake, Washington.

Entitled Screaming Like a Fool, the production features songs from Goldrich and Heisler's existing and emerging romantic comedy catalogue. The songwriters' collaborator on the project is director Alan Muraoka.

Brisa Trinchero, the Lab's founder, said in a statement, “The Running Deer Musical Theatre Lab is designed specifically for producers and producing organizations to provide musical theater artists a space free from scrutiny and distractions to create or make significant progress on their new musicals. While such resources abound for the development of plays, they are sorely lacking for new musical theatre works. Running Deer Musical Theatre Lab fills this need.”

Zina Goldrich and Marcy Heisler are the first women ever honored as recipients of the Fred Ebb Award for Musical Theatre Songwriting. They were nominated for 2009 Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Lyrics and Music for Dear Edwina and earned Lucille Lortel Award nominations for Junie B. Jones. "Marcy and Zina: The Album" is available on Yellow Sound Label, and their two songbooks are available from Hal Leonard Publishers. For more information visit www.marcyandzina.com.

Alan Muraoka's directing credits include Falsettoland for the National Asian American Theatre Company (Vineyard Theatre), the world premiere of Karaoke Stories for the IMUA Theater Company, four Leading Men benefit concerts for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, and cabarets for John Tartaglia, Stephanie D'Abruzzo and Ann Harada. Regionally, he has directed at the MUNY, the Kennedy Center, Casa Manana, and the Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma.
