Classic Arts News Marek Janowski Extends Contract With Berlin Radio Symphony Marek Janowski, artistic director of the Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Berlin (Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra) since 2002, has extended his contract through 2011, the orchestra announced.
Janowski is also artistic director of the Monte Carlo Philharmonic, and will assume the same post with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande next month. He is also part of the three-man team that leads the Pittsburgh Symphony, holding an endowed guest conductor chair.

He directed the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France from 1984 to 2000, and led the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra in 2002-03.

According to his management, Janowski is the only German conductor currently leading one of Berlin's orchestras.
