All American Girl" Margaret Cho -- whose six-week engagement at Off Broadway's Westbeth Theatre Center turned into an 11-week, sold-out stand -- will take her show, I'm the One That I Want, on a 15-city tour beginning Sept. 24. The first stop will be the Warner Theater in Washington, D.C.
Following the D.C. dates, Cho plans to take the piece to Houston, Austin, San Francisco, Seattle and Chicago. The six-month tour will conclude in February 2000. For a complete schedule, visit the web site www.margaretcho.net.
San Francisco native Cho became prominent with TV's "All American Girl," which made her the first Asian-American with her own sitcom. Other appearances have included "Politically Incorrect," "Leno," "Letterman," "Rosie" and "Oprah." Cho, making her theatrical debut, has titled her new piece, "I'm the One That I Want."
The Westbeth has served as the starting place for several Off-Broadway and Broadway shows within the last two years, including Sandra Bernhard's I'm Still Here, Damn It!, Thwak and Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
