News Maria Friedman to Debut Program Celebrating Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim Maria Friedman, currently represented in London by her directorial debut with Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along at the Menier Chocolate Factory, is to return to the cabaret stage with a program that celebrates the work of Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim. She will begin a run of six performances March 5 at London's Pheasantry in Chelsea.

Presented under the title Maria Friedman Sings Lenny and Steve, she will perform songs from their separate catalogues as well as their joint masterpiece West Side Story. Amongst the program, songs will include "New York, New York" and "I Can Cook Too" (both from Bernstein's On the Town), "Send in the Clowns" and "Losing My Mind" (respectively from Sondheim's A Little Night Music and Follies). She will be accompanied by musical director Jason Carr, Tony-nominated in 2008 for his orchestrations for Sunday in the Park with George and also previously represented on Broadway by incidental music he provided for Indiscretions and A Doll's House, as well as orchestrations for A Little Night Music and La Cage aux Folles that both transferred from the Menier Chocolate Factory.
