The annual event will be held at Pier 60 at Manhattan's Chelsea Piers. The evening will begin at 7 PM with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and a silent auction. Dinner, the presentation of the awards and a live auction will begin at 8 PM, and the evening will conclude at 10 PM with dessert and dancing.
This year the Center will honor two community leaders: Two-time Tony Award winner Jones and Susman, the executive vice president of global communications for Estée Lauder Companies. Tony winner Marian Seldes, recently seen on stage in Deuce, will present Jones with the Outspoken Community Leader Award.
The Women's Event, according to press notes, helps the LGBT Center "sustain an array of programs, services, and activities that serve women throughout the New York tri-state area. . . . The evening unites leaders from the business, cultural and civic arenas in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community."
Cherry Jones originated the role of Sister Aloysius in the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Doubt both on and Off-Broadway. Along with the Tony Award, the role earned her a Drama Desk Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award, the Lucille Lortel Award, and an Obie. Jones' other Broadway credits include The Heiress (Tony Award), Imaginary Friends, Major Barbara, A Moon for the Misbegotten, Our Country's Good, Angels in America and Faith Healer.
