More than free coffee is percolating at Marietta, Georgia's Theatre In The Square with the playreading series beginning Jan. 31. Four evenings of coffee and desserts and plays looking for possible development will be held Monday nights through Feb. 21 in the Alley Stage. Admission is free, and all sessions feature talk-backs with the cast, director and playwright.

2000's four plays for the Percolating Playreading Series are:

Jan. 31: Tenn by Florida playwright Marcy D. Kennedy, explores the psyche of Tennessee Williams and the creation of his characters, influenced by the people who filled his life. David Milford of Theatre in the Square's Wuthering! Heights! The! Musical! will star, with direction by August Staub

Feb. 7: Augie Plunkett by Elizabeth Spicer is a comedy about a spurned on course for revenge, which mixes her up with an Asian mistress, Latin lover and, worst of all, talk show hosts. Jill Jane Clements directs.
Feb. 14: For Valentine's Day, Thad Person's farcical comedy centers on the confusion that results from mixups between a local clinic's blood and sperm banks. Biological clocks tick, a nervous husband struggles to supply and there's a retired Army clinic hell bent on making a donation. David de Vries directs.

Feb. 21: Gary Yates directs The Practical Order of Things from Kim Brundidge (last year's Sex Acts). This play, set in a jury room, looks at prejudice as twelve men and women wrestle with a discrimination suit. Previous works that have received development from the Percolating Playreading Series include Sherry Camp Paulsen's Our Lady of Perrysburg, Pamela Parker's Tallulah And Hattie: Dead At The Pearly Gates Cafe and Robert Myers' The Lynching of Leo Frank.
