News Marin Theatre Company Plans Choir Boy, The Whale and The Way West for 2014-15 Season Tarell Alvin McCraney's acclaimed Off-Broadway play Choir Boy and Samuel D. Hunter's The Whale will be staged as part of the Marin Theatre Company's 2014-15 season.

The season will open with Will Powers' Fetch Clay, Make Man, staged by Derrick Sanders, which explores the unlikely friendship between boxing champ Muhammad Ali and Hollywood actor Stepin Fetchit (Aug. 14-Sept. 7); followed by the Bay Area premiere of Hunter's The Whale, directed by Jasson Minadakis, about a 600-pound man and his estranged daughter (Oct. 2-26). Reduced Shakespeare Company will return to MTC with the 90-minute work The Complete History of Comedy (abridged) (Nov. 28-Dec. 21); also planned is Minadakis' staging of award-winning playwright Danai Gurira's The Convert, which centers on the life of a young woman during British Colonialism in Africa (Feb. 19-March 15, 2015).

Hayley Finn will direct Mona Mansour's comedic family drama The Way West (April 16-May 10); and Kent Gash will stage McCraney's play-with-music Choir Boy, about the gay black experience in America (June 4-28).
