LOS ANGELES -- The Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles will salute Asian-American women performers including Margaret Cho, Jude Narita, Tamlyn Tomita and Denise Uyehara in "Hymn to Her," a three-day festival Friday-Sunday, Aug. 2-4.
Presented by the Mark Taper Forum's Asian Theatre Workshop at East West Players' theatre, the festival will include theatre, solo performance and cabaret singing.
Here is the schedule. Several performances will be given more than once:
Flirting with MySelf: Written and performed by Amy Hill, 7 PM Aug. 2.
Raw!: Cutting-edge solo performances by Jude Narita, Lauren Tom and Denise Uyehara, 9 PM Aug. 2.
Portraits: Concert reading of Asian American women monologues with Jacqueline Kim, Emily Kuroda, June Kyoko Lu, Jeanne Sakata and Tamlyn Tomita, 1 PM Aug. 3.
Hymn to Her: Musical cabaret about the lives of two Asian-American women with Deborah Nishimura and Jennifer Paz, 3 PM Aug. 3.
Flirting With MySelf: 5 PM Aug. 3
Mondo Cho: New one-woman play by Margaret Cho, 7 PM Aug. 3.
Raw!: Cutting-edge solo performances by Jude Narita, Lauren Tom and Denise Uyehara. Portraits: 1 PM Aug. 4.
