Mark Taper Forum producing director Robert Egan will leave Los Angeles to join Seattle's ACT Theatre as artistic director. Egan began his management career as associate artistic director of Seattle Repertory Theatre, serving from 1980 to 1984. At the Taper, Egan was the Director of New Play Development, founding and producing the New Work Festival. As a director, he helmed the Taper's Arcadia (with Kate Burton), Patrick Marber's Closer and Dealer's Choice, Richard II and Measure for Measure (with Kelsey Grammer) and Skylight (with Brian Cox).

Egan will work with associate artistic director Kurt Beattie to decide on the theatre's 2003 mainstage season. So far, the theatre has announced only one production for that season, the Northwest premiere of Edward Albee's Tony-winning The Goat or Who Is Sylvia?. The Goat, directed by Warner Snook, will play in the spring.
