News Marriot Theatre's Rick Boynton Appointed Creative Producer as Chicago Shakes Rick Boynton, the artistic director of Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire, has been named creative producer of Chicago Shakespeare Theater.

In his new role, he will oversee "season planning and program development with an emphasis on new works and commissions, special theatrical events and co-productions." From 1997 to 2001, Boynton served as CST's casting director and later its associate artistic director.

Boynton, a graduate of Northwestern University, had a successful career as an actor, winning several Jeff Awards, before becoming an admistrator.
For the past two years, Boynton has served as co-chair of the National Alliance for Musical Theatre's Festival of New Musicals in New York.

"The artistic program of Chicago Shakespeare has become so rich and diverse," said Boynton in a statement. "I look forward to being part of the theatre's incredible plans in the coming years to extend its reach to artists and audiences here in Chicago and throughout the world."
