News Marroquin Joins In the Heights for Summer Bianca Marroquin will take over the role of Daniela, the friendly neighborhood salon owner, in Broadway's In the Heights for nine weeks beginning June 12.

She'll play to Aug. 15 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. In the Heights currently stars Corbin Bleu (through Aug. 17). Beginning Aug. 19, "American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks will jump in as Nina.

Marroquin is originally from Mexico. Her Broadway credits include Chicago and The Pajama Game, plus The World Goes Round at Barrington Stage, Bye Bye Birdie at North Shore Theatre. She won a Helen Hayes Award for playing Roxie Heart in Chicago and an IRNE for playing Rose Alvarez in Bye Bye Birdie. She starred in Mexico City productions of Beauty and The Beast, Rent, Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, Vagina Monolgues and The Sound of Music.

In the Heights, a musical comedy about friends, family and lovers in the Latino neighborhood of Washington Heights in Manhattan, is the winner of four 2008 Tony Awards including Best Musical. The show has music, lyrics and conception by Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda and book by Quiara Alegría Hudes.

As of June 12, In the Heights will star Corbin Bleu, Janet Dacal, Marcy Harriell, Christopher Jackson, Priscilla Lopez, Bianca Marroquin, Olga Merediz, Rick Négron, Courtney Reed, Noah Rivera and Seth Stewart leading a cast of 28 that features Tony Chiroldes, Dwayne Clark, Rosie Lani Fiedelman, Marcus Paul James, Nina Lafarga, Jennifer Locke, Doreen Montalvo, Noah Rivera, Eliseo Román, Gabrielle Ruiz, Luis Salgado, Rickey Tripp, Blanca Camacho, Allison Thomas Lee, Alejandra Reyes, Marcos Santana and Seth Stewart.
