News Martin Charnin's The Next-to-the-Last Revue Begins Open-Ended Run Sept. 30 The Next-to-the-Last Revue, conceived and directed by Tony Award winning lyricist Martin Charnin, begins its open-ended run Sept. 30 at Sam's Dream Street Cabaret.

Celebrating the lost art form of the musical revue, the new 70-minute show features sketches and musical numbers created by Charnin and several other collaborators. Produced by Jim Kierstead, the company features Melanie Adelman, Michael Diliberto, Elizabeth Inghram, Jenny Neale and Christopher Totten. Brandon Sturiale is the production's musical director, and the official opening night for The Next-to-the-Last Revue is set for Oct. 6. Martin Charnin won the 1977 Best Score Tony Award (with composer Charles Strouse) for his lyrics to Annie. He also wrote lyrics for Two By Two, Hot Spot, I Remember Mama, The Madwoman of Central Park West and The First. His Broadway directorial credits include Nash at Nine, Annie, The First, A Little Family Business, Cafe Crown, Sid Caesar & Company and The Flowering Peach.

The Next-to-the-Last Revue will offer previews Sept. 30 at 8 PM, Oct. 5 and 6 at 8 PM and Oct. 7 at 7 PM; the show will then play Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9 PM, Fridays and Saturdays at 9 and 11:15 PM and Sundays at 4 PM. Sam's Dream Street Cabaret is located in Manhattan at 263 West 45th Street.
