News Marvel, Nielsen, Buell and Jennings Read in Shakespeare Society's An Evening of Antony & Cleopatra, Sept. 26 Elizabeth Marvel and Byron Jennings will play the title roles in The Shakespeare Society's An Evening of Antony & Cleopatra Sept. 26.

Columbia Professor, author and Shakespearean expert Kristin Linklater will moderate the event, which will take place at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College from 6:30-8 PM.

Billed as "a candid and revealing look at two of Shakespeare's greatest lovers," Marvel and Jennings will perform selected scenes with a cast that also includes Kristine Nielsen (Betty's Summer Vacation, the upcoming Miss Witherspoon), Peter Jay Fernandez (Julius Caesar), Bill Buell (Urinetown) and Sean McNall (Orson's Shadow).

The Shakespeare Society artistic director Michael Sexton will stage the 90-minute event that will explore the questions: "Who are Antony and Cleopatra? Is he the resolute soldier or the moody lover? Is she the steadfast champion of Egypt or the jealous mistress? Does love change or reveal our true selves? And why are the sexiest speeches preludes to suicide?"

Marvel — who recently starred in Terrorism — also appeared Off-Broadway last year in the New York Theatre Workshop revival of Hedda Gabler and Woody Allen's A Second-Hand Memory. Other credits include An American Daughter, Alice in Bed, A Streetcar Named Desire and Lydie Breeze, Parts I & II as well as television appearances on "The District." The actress will next be seen in the Broadway revival of Edward Albee's Seascape.

Jennings took over the role of Juror #11 in the recent Broadway run of Twelve Angry Men. Recently seen in the Roundabout's Off-Broadway staging of The Foreigner, Jennings has also appeared on Broadway in Sight Unseen, Henry IV, Dinner at Eight, Noises Off, The Invention of Love and The Man Who Came to Dinner. He is lined up to appear in the upcoming Roundabout Broadway staging of Eugene O'Neill's A Touch of the Poet.
