News   Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio Confirmed for Donmar’s Grand Hotel
Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio will check in to the Donmar Warehouse’s new production of Grand Hotel, a spokesperson for the show confirmed to Playbill On-Line.

The star of movies — including “Scarface,” “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” and “The Perfect Storm” — has done plenty of theatre, but this will be her first visit to the Covent Garden theatre. Previewing from Nov. 19, Grand Hotel opens on Nov. 29 and runs until Feb. 12. The Tony Award-winning musical is by Luther Davis and the Kismet team of Robert Wright and George Forrest. Maury Yeston contributed additional music and lyrics.

Michael Grandage will direct, with Christopher Oram’s designs and lighting design from Hugh Vanstone. Choreography will be by Matthew Bourne regular (most famously as the Swan in Bourne’s award-winning Swan Lake) Adam Cooper, with Jae Alexander as musical director and Terry Jardine as sound designer. No word on additional casting.

Mastrantonio has appeared on Broadway six times, in shows ranging from 1980’s West Side Story to 2002’s Man of La Mancha. Her turn as La Mancha’s Aldonza earned her a 2003 Tony nomination for Best Actress in a Musical.
