The New York premiere of Mary Jane by Pulitzer Prize finalist Amy Herzog officially opens September 25 at New York Theatre Workshop Off-Broadway. The play takes place over a rain-drenched summer in New York City and follows a single mother—Mary Jane—navigating life caring for a sick child.

Two-time Obie winner Anne Kauffman directs a cast led by Tony and Emmy nominee Carrie Coon as Mary Jane, along with Liza Colón-Zayas (Between Riverside and Crazy), Danaya Esperanza (Men on Boats), Susan Pourfar (Tribes), and Brenda Wehle (The Crucible).

Performances of Mary Jane began September 6 for a run scheduled through October 15.

The production features scenic design by Laura Jellinek (The Light Years), costume design by Emily Rebholz (Dear Evan Hansen), lighting design by Japhy Weideman (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), and sound design by Leah Gelpe (Sundown, Yellow Moon). Lisa Chernoff (Oslo) is the stage manager.

Mary Jane is produced in association with Yale Repertory Theatre, where it was commissioned and received its world premiere in April 2017.
