Screen veteran Mary Steenburgen has been tapped for NBC’s musical pilot Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. She joins a cast that includes the previously announced Broadway alums Alex Newell and Skylar Astin, with Jane Levy starring in the title role, a woman who suddenly realizes she can hear other people’s innermost thoughts as elaborate musical numbers.

The Oscar winner and Broadway alum, according to Deadline, will play Zoey’s mother, Maggie. She is also set to appear in the world premiere of Bess Wohl’s Grand Horizons this summer at Williamstown Theatre Festival.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, billed as “What Women Want meets La La Land,” is created by Austin Wisnberg, Paul Feig, and Eric and Kim Tannenbaum.
