Penned by Israeli-born playwright Ilan Hatsor, Masked "tackles the cultural divide at the heart of the Middle East conflict. Masked depicts the tragedy of one family torn between obligations, kinship, principles and survival."
Urgent Conversations features community leaders, religious leaders, influential writers, journalists, experts in conflict resolution, activists and members of the creative team, who take part in the post-performance discussions three times a week.
The upcoming schedule includes Tammy Shapiro, Union of Progressive Zionists, and Rebecca Kleinhandler, New Israel Fund (Oct. 30); Rabbi David Adelson, East End Synagogue (Nov. 4); TBA Israeli Film Panelist (Nov. 6); Lena Alhusseini, Arab American Family Support Center (Nov. 11); Ayad Akhtar, writer/star of "The War Within" (Nov. 13); and student representatives from Palestinian, Muslim and Jewish organizations at Hunter College (Nov. 18).
Waleed F. Zuaiter, Sanjit DeSilva and Arian Moayed currently star in the production under the direction of Ami Dayan. Original cast member Daoud Heidami rejoins the company Nov. 6.
