The production, originally scheduled to open May 29 at the Booth Theatre, still begins performances May 6.
Lonny Price (Urban Cowboy, A Class Act) directs the revival starring Michael Boatman, Christopher Denham and Danny Glover. The design team includes John Lee Beatty (sets), Susan Hilferty (costumes) and Peter Kaczorowski (lights).
Set in 1950's apartheid-stricken South Africa, Master Harold follows a 17-year-old white boy and the two middle-aged black men who are his servants at the tea room owned by the parents.
The play had its Broadway debut May 4, 1982, starring Price as the title character with Zakes Mokae and a then largely unknown Danny Glover as the servants. This time around, Glover will now play the older servant Sam, Boatman takes on the younger servant Willie, newcomer Denham will play the title character Hally and Price will direct the work.
