News Matt Cavenaugh, Alec Baldwin and Daniel Davis Set for L'Histoire du Soldat Philharmonic Concert Broadway's Matt Cavenaugh will join Alec Baldwin and Daniel Davis in Stravinsky's L'Histoire du Soldat with the New York Philharmonic May 2 at Avery Fisher Hall.

Cavenaugh (West Side Story, A Catered Affair) will appear as The Soldier, with Davis (La Cage aux Folles, "The Nanny") as The Devil. Baldwin ("30 Rock," Twentieth Century) will be the Narrator. The cast will also feature Alexander Timchenko, Dmitry Voropaev, Ilya Bannik and Andrei Serov.

The concert is presented as part of the Philharmonic's festival "The Russian Stravinsky," which runs April 21-May 8. Valery Gergiev is the conductor.

According to the Philharmonic, "L'Histoire du Soldat (A Soldier's Tale) is the 1918 war-influenced musical Faustian tale about a fiddle-playing soldier who strikes an ill-advised bargain with the devil. The soldier comes to realize his error, and for a time seems to manage to outwit his foe and begin a new life with a princess, but the devil triumphs in the end."

The concert will also feature Stravinsky's Renard performed by singers from the Mariinsky Theater and the Philharmonic.
