The third annual Broadway for Self Help Africa, bringing together Broadway stars for a night of song and celebration benefiting Self Help Africa, will be held April 4 at The Cutting Room in New York City.
Featuring musical direction by Will Van Dyke, the 7:30 PM concert will feature performances from Matt Doyle (The Book of Mormon, War Horse), Dawn Cantwell (Wicked, The Last Ship), Nick Rashad Boroughs (Kinky Boots), Jason Michael Snow (The Book of Mormon, South Pacific), Bonnie Milligan (Gigantic, Kinky Boots), Taylor Trensch (Matilda), Courtney Hammond (Legally Blonde, Rock of Ages), Jesse Johnson (Wicked, Rent), Blaine Krauss (The Lion King) Michael Zahler, Pauline Piasno and more.
All proceeds from the benefit will go directly to Self Help Africa, a non-profit with a pro-profit approach to rural Africa. Through nurturing entrepreneurship and providing economic opportunities, Self Help Africa helps to lift some of the poorest communities out of poverty. Over 30 years, the organization has provided nearly two million people with the opportunity to make a sustainable income through their own initiatives: A help up, not a hand-out.
