As previously reported, Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony winner for her performance in You Can't Take It With You, will star in the title role of an adorable pooch.

Broderick will portray Sylvia's owner, who is going through a midlife crisis. Broderick's Emmy-winning wife, Sarah Jessica Parker, starred in the original Off-Broadway production of the Gurney play.

Daniel Sullivan will direct the Broadway staging of the 1995 play about a married couple and their beloved dog Sylvia (who can talk to the audience), which will also star Tony winner Julie White (Airline Highway) and Robert Sella (Stuff Happens, Sleepy Hollow, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang).

The design team will include recent Tony nominees, set designer David Rockwell (You Can’t Take It With You and On the Twentieth Century) and lighting designer Japhy Weideman (The Visit and Airline Highway) and, doing costumes, Oscar winner Ann Roth. Casting is by Telsey + Company/William Cantler, CSA.

Sylvia will be produced by Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel and Daryl Roth.

The original 1995 production starred Parker (as Sylvia), Blythe Danner and Charles Kimbrough, and ran 167 performances at Manhattan Theatre Club's Stage I.

The Cort Theatre is located at 138 W. 48th Street.
