Warchus told Playbill On-Line that Hatcher has written a screenplay of his work, Three Viewings, which the director hopes to bring to the screen. The play, which ran at Manhattan Theatre Club several seasons ago, consists of three monologues set in a funeral home: one by the funeral director, who is obsessed with a local female real estate broker; a bitter daughter encountering her mother one last time as the latter lies in her coffin; and a wife who must deal with the unexpected aftermath of her spouse's death. Hatcher is the author of such plays as Scotland Road, Tuesdays with Morrie and Work Song. Warchus' wife, Lauren Ward, acted in Hatcher's Compleat Female Stage Beauty in Philadelphia.
Warchus directed the recent Broadway revivals of True West and Follies, as well as the New York premiere of Art. On film, he's directed "Simpatico."
