News McCarter Theatre to Present World Premiere of Rebeck’s The Bells; Casting Complete Casting has been announced for the world premiere of Theresa Rebeck’s The Bells, which begins its run at New Jersey’s McCarter Theatre Center this month.

Directed by Emily Mann, The Bells will begin performances March 22 with an official opening set for March 25. The limited engagement will play through April 10. Set in the waning years of the Alaskan Gold Rush, the cast features Ted Marcoux, Marin Ireland, Fiona Gallagher, Paul Butler, Michael McCarty, Christopher Innvar and Pan Bandhu. The Bells, according to production notes, “tracks the intertwined fates of a gregarious innkeeper, Mathias, (Marcoux), his rebellious daughter, Annette, (Ireland), and the misfits of a boomtown gone bust (Gallagher, Butler and McCarty). Hard luck and hunger have brought them together, but then a stranger (Innvar) begins asking questions about the mysterious disappearance of a Chinese prospector, Xuifei (Bandhu).”

Theresa Rebeck’s plays include Omnium Gatherum, The Butterfly Collection, View of the Dome, The Family of Mann, Loose Knit, Spike Heels and Bad Dates. She was also a writer and producer of “NYPD Blues” and “Law & Order: Criminal Intent.”
