Cabaret and Broadway wannabes will get the chance to perform for an illustrious panel of performers in June.
As part of the Genesius Guild's annual "Cabaret-Broadway Master Class," up n-coming performers will get to strut their stuff for Tony winner Donna McKechnie as well as Lainie Kazan, Tovah Feldshuh and Evan Pappas. The June 10 evening, which begins at 7:30 PM, will feature performances by cabaret hopefuls, which will then be critiqued by the four panelists. A question-and-answer session will follow.
The registration fee for the Master Class, which includes drinks and hors d'oeuvres is $70; a limited number of those registered will be chosen by audition as Master Class participants to be critiqued by the panel. Those wishing to audition should call Sandi Durell, who is the event's producing director, at (212) 724-3566. Those who wish only to observe should call SmartTix at (212) 206-1515; checks or money orders payable to The Genesius Guild can also be sent to the Guild at P.O. Box 2213, New York, NY 10108.
The Genesius Guild is a non-profit organization of professional theatre artists dedicated to the creation of new plays and musicals. The Guild's next MainStage production is Frank Stancati's Just Us Boys, a new comedy that will run June 20-30 at the Chashama Theatre, 135 W. 42nd Street. The comedy is set in the dressing room of a Broadway musical titled Depression.
