McKenzie, Martin, Kernan and Sherrin to Reunite for Side By Side Benefit

News   McKenzie, Martin, Kernan and Sherrin to Reunite for Side By Side Benefit In 1976 Julia McKenzie, Millicent Martin, David Kernan and Ned Sherrin opened to rave reviews in the Sondheim anthology Side By Side By Sondheim at London's Mermaid Theatre.

Thirty years later, these stars will reunite at London's Novello Theatre for a one-night-only performance of the Sondheim revue. The May 21 evening, which will benefit The Shooting Star Children's Hospice, will also feature a host of guest stars to be announced at a later date. David Kernan will direct the benefit, which will be staged by Bill Deamer. Gareth Valentine is the musical director.

Side By Side By Sondheim features music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim with additional music by Leonard Bernstein, Mary Rodgers, Richard Rodgers and Jule Styne. After its London run, the revue played Broadway's Music Box Theatre April 1977-Feb. 1978 before transferring to the Morosco Theatre, where it played through March 1978.
