As first reported by Playbill.com Feb. 2, producers Barry and Fran Weissler are planning to bring the London play to New York in the fall. In a recent casting notice, McPherson was listed as the director of the piece, which has played to positive critical response in London and Dublin. It would be McPherson's second visit to Broadway, following The Weir, which ran for 277 performances in 1999. His other works, including The Lime Tree Bower and St. Nicholas, have all been staged Off-Broadway. The notice describes the plot thusly: "In Dublin, a man comes to a therapist seeking help, claiming to have seen the ghost of his recently deceased wife. What begins as just an unusual encounter becomes a desperate struggle between the living and the dead—a struggle which will shape and define both men for the rest of their lives."

Variety reported that Weissler wants original leading man Stanley Townsend to repeat his performance as John in the play, and that the producer is seeking Brian F. O'Byrne to play Ian, a therapist who treats John. O'Byrne's currently in Doubt.

The show was produced in London by the Royal Court Theatre and in Dublin by the Gate Theatre.
