Five weeks of spooky tales await Seattle's Intiman Theatre, playing host to Conor McPherson's The Weir Sept. 15-Oct. 14. The drama, directed by Intiman artistic associate Robin Lynn Smith (Curse of the Starving Class), opens Sept. 20.

McPherson's play of small town pub regulars who spend a night telling ghostly stories to impress their new neighbor, a quiet young Dublin woman, opened on Broadway April 1, 1999. Although the play received no Tony nominations, The Weir was the last survivor of 1999's new plays, with a run of 276 performances and 11 previews. In London, the drama garnered the 1999 Olivier Award for Best New Play. McPherson's other works include St. Nicholas, This Lime Tree Bower and Dublin Carol.

Associate artistic director of Seattle Repertory Theatre Kurt Beattie stars as Finbar with original Lincoln Center Repertory Company member James Greene as Jack, Delia MacDougall as Valerie, Todd Jefferson Moore as Jim and Daniel Tierney as Brendan.

The design team features Edie Whitsett (sets), Catherine Meacham Hunt (costumes), Greg Sullivan (lighting) and Jim Ragland (sound). Amy Gornet is the stage manager.
