News McVey, Ward, Moriber, Klausner and Picardo to Launch Rocket Boys Reading A private reading of the new musical Rocket Boys, based on the memoir by Homer Hickam, will feature Broadway's Mark McVey, Andre Ward, Brooke Sunny Moriber and Terri Klausner.

Carl Anthony Tramon, who co-authored the book to the musical with his brother Dan Tramon and Hickam, will direct the June 7 industry readings. Rocket Boys has a score by Diana Belkowski and Dan Tramon.

In addition to McVey (Les Miserables), Ward (Xanadu), Moriber (The Wild Party) and Klausner (Evita), the readings will feature Robert Picardo of television's "Star Trek" and "Stargate."

Here's how press notes describe the tuner: "Rocket Boys is the memoir of a misfit high school teen in a 1950’s Appalachian coal mining town who convinces skeptical friends to join him in building high-altitude rockets."

Rocket Boys received its 2008 premiere at the Merrimack Theatre in Huntsville, AL. The town is home to NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center. Hickam's three-part 1998 memoir was adapted into the film "October Sky."

Craig Carnelia directed previous workshops of the musical, which won the NY ASCAP/Disney Musical Theatre Workshop and also won the Academy for New Musical Theatre's Search for New Voices. Visit RocketBoystheMusical.
