News Mecca and Perlman Go 'Round The Rink March 9-21 Mary Jo Mecca and Stacie Perlman co-star in the Kander and Ebb mother-daughter musical The Rink beginning March 9 for Musicals Tonight! in Manhattan.

Thomas Sabella-Mills directs the staged concert that will run through March 21 at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre. Paul Johnson is musical director.

Mecca appears as rink owner Anna opposite Perlman as her daughter Angel. The cast also features Danny Gardner, David Garry, David Brent Howard, Christian Marriner, Brad Nacht, David Shane and Paige Simunovich.

Kander and Ebb's 1984 musical, featuring a book by Terrence McNally, centers on the relationship between a mother and daughter with conflicting plans for the family business, a decaying roller rink. The two come to terms with their past through a series of flashbacks.

Despite its co-stars, Chita Rivera and Liza Minnelli, the original Broadway production of The Rink lasted only 204 performances at the Martin Beck Theatre. The original cast also featured Rob Marshall, Jason Alexander and Scott Ellis. Songs from The Rink include "Colored Lights"; "Chief Cook and Bottle Washer"; "Don't 'Ah Ma' Me"; "We Can Make It"; "Marry Me"; "The Apple Doesn't Fall"; and "All the Children in a Row."
