Directed by Val Lauren, the dark romantic comedy will begin previews June 1 at Burbank's Falcon with an official opening June 3 at 7 PM.

Film star Griffith, who made her Broadway debut in Chicago, will portray the role of Lulu, the mother to Jacob, played by playwright Caan. No reason was given for Kazan's departure.

Griffith’s credits include the 1988 film "Working Girl" (Academy Award nominee as Best Actress and Golden Globe Award winner as Best Actress in a Comedy), the Academy Award-nominated film "Nobody’s Fool," "Another Day in Paradise," Woody Allen’s "Celebrity" and "RKO 281," in which she played actress Marion Davies, a part that garnered her Golden Globe and Emmy nominations.

The cast will also feature Bre Blair ("Make It Or Break," "NCIS"), Caan ("Hawaii Five-O," "Entourage"), Robyn Cohen ("Gravity," "The Life Aquatic") and Val Lauren ("24," "Sal").

"When Jacob (Scott Caan) discovers that his girlfriend Holly (Robyn Cohen) might be pregnant," press notes state, "he drags his friend Frank (Val Lauren) into the maddening wormhole that is his psyche, a venture that lands them on the doorstep of Lulu (Melanie Griffith): Jacob’s mother and the matriarch of madness herself. However, Holly and her friend Rachel (Bre Blair) are one step ahead of them."

Show times are Friday at 8 PM, Saturday at 4 PM and 8 PM and Sunday at 7 PM.

Tickets for previews are priced $27; opening-night tickets range $43-$48; after opening, tickets are $35-$38 with $27 student tickets available. Tickets go on sale May 4 by visiting www.FalconTheatre.com or calling (818) 955-8101.
