Melissa Errico Will Sing The Silence at Joe's Pub

News   Melissa Errico Will Sing The Silence at Joe's Pub

Tony-nominated singing actress Melissa Errico will return to Joe's Pub Nov. 18-19 at 7 PM with a brand-new autobiographical cabaret show co-written with Adam Gopnik.

Entitled Sing The Silence, the evenings concern "how one singer’s descent into 100 days of silence — total silence — compelled her towards an inventory of a lifetime’s experience, on and off the stage."

The upcoming show will include songs by women songwriters such as Georgia Stitt, Marcy Heisler, Jonatha Brooke, Susan Werner, Patricia Barber, Laura Nyro, Joni Mitchell and Dorothy Parker, as well as the title song written for Errico by Gopnik and Scott Frankel; and the New York debut of music by Jeanine Tesori. There is also a sprinkling of the classic American songbook by Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart, Stephen Sondheim and Mary Rodgers.

The evening "promises to be Errico’s most personal and soulful performance, a mediation on the role that silence, imposed and chosen, plays in the lives of girls and women."

In related news, "Melissa Errico: What About Today?—Live at 54 BELOW" will be released Oct. 30 and will also be available on iTunes, Amazon and at BroadwayRecords.com.

Tickets are $30 and can be purchased online at PublicTheater.org or by phone at (212) 539-8778.
