The show will be an original "American story," Bryan said. It will tell the story of pop songwriters in the Brill building during the early 1960's and ending with the arrival of The Beatles.

Proud that Memphis was completely original and used no-prexisting songs, Bryan said Chasing the Song will be the same. He said that he and DiPietro sold Memphis to producers, saying, it's "an original, which we call a 'future revival'." He said Chasing the Song will be "another future revival."
