Opel returns from a leave of absence following a stint in Memphis writers David Bryan and Joe DiPietro's The Toxic Avenger at The Alley Theater in Houston, TX. She first became part of the Memphis family in March 2011.

Previously, Off-Broadway, Opel received Drama Desk, Drama League, Outer Critics and Lortel nominations for her role in Toxic Avenger. Other Broadway credits include Fiddler on the Roof, Urinetown (Tony nomination, Best Actress), Sunday in the Park with George, Anything Goes, Triumph of Love, Evita and more.

Memphis, according to the producers, "takes place in the smoky halls and underground clubs of the segregated '50s, where a young white DJ named Huey Calhoun (Adam Pascal) fell in love with everything he shouldn't: rock and roll and an electrifying black singer (Montego Glover)." It's "an original story about the cultural revolution that erupted when his vision met her voice, and the music changed forever."

Memphis won four 2010 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Original Score (Bryan and DiPietro), Best Book (DiPietro) and Best Orchestrations (Bryan and Daryl Waters).

Memphis is based on a concept by the late George W. George (producer of the Tony-nominated Bedroom Farce and the film "My Dinner With Andre"). It has direction by Tony nominee Christopher Ashley (Xanadu) and choreography by Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys).

Memphis opened on Broadway Oct. 19, 2009, at the Shubert Theatre.
