News Merrily We Roll Along Cast to Perform Reading of Kaufman and Hart's 1934 Play That Provided Source for Musical The London cast of Merrily We Roll Along, including stars Mark Umbers, Jenna Russell and Damian Humbley, will perform a charity reading of the original 1934 Broadway play of the same name by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart that the musical based on.

The performance, which will take place Feb. 24, will be directed by Adam Lenson, with proceeds to benefit Chickenshed Theatre, a youth-based company that works with people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to produce theatre that inspires, challenges, entertains and educates audiences and participants alike.

In Kaufman and Hart's play, the story of the friendships of its three principal characters are told in reverse chronology, from 1934-1916.
