News Meryl Streep Eyeing Romantic Lead in Universal Film "Mamma Mia!" star Meryl Streep is in talks to star in an untitled forthcoming film for Universal Pictures.

Variety reports that Nancy Meyers, who wrote and directed "Something's Gotta Give" and "The Holiday," will also write and direct the film that is in the final stages of securing Streep as its lead. Scott Rudin joins Meyers as a producer for the film in which Streep would play the romantic interest of two men in a love triangle. Production is scheduled to begin in February.

Meryl Streep appears in the upcoming film adaptation of Doubt and "Julie and Julia." Her film roles include the current summer movie "Mamma Mia!" as well as "Kramer vs. Kramer," "Sophie's Choice," "The French Lieutenant's Woman," "The Hours," "Postcards from the Edge" and "The Devil Wears Prada." Streep most recently performed on the New York stage in Mother Courage and The Seagull at the Delacorte and served as producer for Sara Jones: Bridge and Tunnel..
