The biopic, which would be directed by Lloyd and reportedly may also feature Academy Award winner Jim Broadbent as Thatcher's husband, Denis, is planning to shoot at the end of the year. Abi Morgan wrote the screenplay, and Pathe and Film4 will co-produce.

Sreep's stage credits include Mother Courage and Her Children, The Seagull, Measure for Measure, Happy End, The Cherry Orchard, A Memory of Two Mondays/27 Wagons Full of Cotton (Tony nomination) and Secret Service. She has also won seven Golden Globes and two Emmys (for the miniseries "Angels in America" and "Holocaust").

Lloyd, who made her film directing debut with "Mamma Mia!," also directed the London, Broadway and international companies of the musical on which the film is based. She is known for directing a variety of dramatic work throughout London (including the Donmar Warehouse's Mary Stuart, which played Broadway last season) and for her work in opera.
