The Metropolitan Opera will present Verdi's La traviata and Rigoletto in its 40th annual series of concerts in New York-area parks this summer.

The concert run August 22-September 2 (they are later than usual because of the company's current tour to Japan) in Central Park, Brooklyn's Marine Park, Staten Island's Richmond County Ball Park. Queens' Cunningham Park, and Orchard Park in the Bronx, as well as Brookdale Park in Brookdale Park in Montclair, New Jersey, and Buccleuch Park in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

La traviata will feature Hei-Kyung Hong and Maureen O'Flynn as Violetta, Wookyung Kim and Garrett Sorenson as Alfredo, and Charles Taylor and Donnie Ray Albert as Germont. Derrick Inouye conducts.

Norah Amsellem Olga Makarina share the role of Gilda in Rigoletto; Mark Delvan and Mark Rucker sing Rigoletto, Roberto Aronica and Jos_ Luis Duval appear the Duke of Mantua, and Raymond Aceto and John Cheek are Sparafucile. Nancy Fabiola Herrera and Wendy White sing the role of Maddalena. Joseph Colaneri is the conductor.
