Due to the high demand on tickets for Luis Bravo's Forever Tango, the passionate tango revue has extended its performance schedule at Mexico City's Teatro Alameda 2 until Oct. 18. Tango returned to Mexico City after a highly successful limited engagement last July at Mexico City's Teatro Alameda. In its current visit to Mexico, Tango opened Sept. 22 for a two-week limited engagement, and was supposed to close Oct. 6, but the success has been so notable that the run has been lengthened. The new Teatro Alameda 2 is located next door to the Teatro Alameda 1, and both venues are owned and operated by Mexico's broadcasting emporium, Televisa.
Broadway's Forever Tango opened June 16, 1997 at the Walter Kerr Theatre for a limited run that was supposed to end Aug. 9, 1997; but then was extended several times before announcing an open-ended run which was later transferred to the Marquis Theatre, where the show finally closed August 1, 1998, after over a year on Broadway.
Forever Tango runs at Mexico City's Teatro Alameda 2 Tues., Wed., and Thurs. at 8:30 PM; Fri. & Sat. at 6 PM & 9:30 PM; and Sun. at 6 PM. For information and tickets call Boletel at 011-52-5-241-4177.
