The World Premiere Cast Recording of the new hit Mexican musical Houdini: La Magia del Amor (Houdini: The Magic of Love) is finally released by AC Records May. 11. This live recording features highlights from this exciting through-sung musical, which recounts the professional and sentimental life of the legendary magician/escape artist Harry Houdini.

This live recording features highlights from this exciting through-sung musical, which recounts the professional and sentimental life of the legendary magician/escape artist Harry Houdini.

Songs included in the 15-track recording are "Las Tres Bodas" ("The Three Weddings"), a witty number in which Harry Houdini (Enrique Chi) and Bess Rahner (Lorena D' la Garza) get married, "La Magia del Amor" ("The Magic of Love"), a love theme sung by Harry Houdini (Enrique Chi), "Siempre te Amare" ("I'll Love you Forever") sung by Bess in a scene set at Houdini's grave, and "Mi Decision" ("My Resolution"), a moving quartet sung by Houdini, Bess, Houdini's Mother (Lupita Sandoval) and Theo Houdini (Luis Elizondo).

The total playing time of the recording is 73:55 minutes. According to producer Antonio Calvo, this CD can be purchased outside Mexico at Footlight Records in New York, Dress Circle in London and Sound of Music in Germany.

A cocktail party in which the cast and creative team of Houdini will formally release the cast recording will be held May 11 at Mexico City's Fashion Cafe.

With music by Antonio Calvo and lyrics by Patricia Perrin, Houdini: La Magia del Amor world-premiered Nov. 5 1997, at Mexico City's Teatro Benito Juarez, where the show continues to enjoy an open-ended run. --By Claudio Carrera
