News Mia Dillon, Beth Fowler, Edward Herrmann, Maria Tucci and More Set for Morning's at Seven Reading Paul Osborn’s Tony Award-winning comedy Morning’s at Seven will be presented as a staged reading Feb. 13 at the Westport Country Playhouse as part of the company’s Script in Hand series.

The 7 PM reading, directed by Westport artistic advisor Anne Keefe, will feature Geneva Carr (Off-Broadway’s upcoming Hand to God) as Myrtle Brown, Frank Converse (Our Town) as Thor Swanson, Tony Award nominee Mia Dillon (Crimes of the Heart) as Cora Swanson, Keir Dullea (Butterflies Are Free, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof) as Carl Bolton, Tony Award nominee Beth Fowler (The Boy From Oz) as Ida Bolton, Tony Award winner Edward Herrmann (Mrs. Warren’s Profession) as David Crampton, Lisbeth Mackay (Othello) as Aaronetta ‘Arry’ Gibbs, Tony Award nominee Maria Tucci (The Rose Tattoo) as Esther Crampton and Stephen Wallem (“Nurse Jackie”) as Homer Bolton.

Morning’s at Seven, according to Westport, “tells of four sisters who all reside in the same town, three of them living next door to each other, and know intimately the lives of the others. But each maintains her own secrets, hidden to preserve the tranquility of their family. When Ida’s son Homer brings home his spinster fiancé, a stranger to the family even after a long engagement, the secrets began to spill. Arguments, make-ups, 'mysterious spells' occur, all adding up to a reminder that family, no matter how dysfunctional, really is everything.”

Part of Winter at the Playhouse, the Script in Hand series will continue with Stage Struck, an inventive comedy-thriller by Simon Gray (March 12 at 7 PM). Keefe will again direct.

Westport Country Playhouse is a not-for-profit, professional theatre under the artistic direction of Mark Lamos. The playhouse creates five live theatre experiences from April through November.
