Video Michael Arden Opens Up Auditions for Annie at the Hollywood Bowl The Tony-nominated director has called on young performers to record themselves singing “Tomorrow” for a shot at the title role.

In a new online video, Tony-nominated director Michael Arden is calling on young L.A.-based performers of varying experience (ages 6–13), to send in their video auditions for a chance to star in Annie at the Hollywood Bowl this summer. As previously reported, the Once On This Island director will helm the popular musical this July as part of the Los Angeles Philharmonic's 97th summer season.

Performers auditioning for the role of Annie should record themselves singing “Tomorrow”; those auditioning for one of the six orphan roles should record themselves performing “It’s a Hard Knock Life.” All submissions must be uploaded to YouTube and sent to [email protected] by April 22.

Watch Arden's message, with further instructions, in the video above.

Annie has a book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse, and lyrics by Martin Charnin. Performances are scheduled at the Hollywood Bowl July 27–29. Todd Ellison will conduct the orchestra.
