News Michael Ball to Headline an Evening of Gershwin at London's Kenwood House, Featuring Kerry Ellis, Gina Beck, David Shannon Michael Ball, who recently won the Olivier Award for playing the title role in Sweeney Todd in the West End, will headline Summertime – An Evening of Gershwin Sept. 1, as part of the outdoor Live by the Lake concert series at London's Kenwood House on Hampstead Heath.

He will be supported by Kerry Ellis, Gina Beck and David Shannon, with Viv McLean on piano and Jae Alexander conducting.

Ball's other credits include a record-breaking run in the London production of Hairspray at the West End's Shaftesbury Theatre, in which he played Edna Turnblad from the time the show opened in October 2007 through July 2008, and for which he won the 2008 Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical; Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Passion, Aspects of Love (also Broadway), The Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables (in which he originated the role of Marius).

Ellis originated the role of Meat in We Will Rock You and was the first British Elphaba in Wicked (also Broadway).

Shannon has starred as Valjean in Les Miserables and the title role in The Phantom of the Opera in the West End, and also created the role of John in The Beautiful Game.

Beck is currently playing the role of Glinda in the West End in Wicked. Other West End roles include Christine Daaé in The Phantom of the Opera.

McLean recently appeared with the English Chamber Orchestra, the London Philharmonic and a USA tour with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra performing Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue."
