News   Michael Douglas Will Receive O'Neill Center's Monte Cristo Award
The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center will honor veteran actor Michael Douglas with the 2012 Monte Cristo Award April 16, 2012, in a special ceremony at the Edison Ballroom in New York City.

The Academy Award-winning actor is known for his work in "Wall Street," "One Few Over the Cuckoo's Nest," "The China Syndrome," "Romancing the Stone," "Fatal Attraction, "Basic Instinct," "Falling Down," "Disclosure" and "The American President." He is currently working with director Steven Soderbergh on the new thriller "Haywire." Douglas' wife, Tony and Academy Award-winning A Little Night Music and "Chicago" star Catherine Zeta-Jones, will present the honor.

Douglas is being recognized for "his monumental achievements and contributions to the American and international theatre community." He is an alumnus of the O'Neill Center.

Previous Monte Cristo recipients include James Earl Jones, Harold Prince, Kevin Spacey, Neil Simon, Jason Robards, Jr., Edward Albee, August Wilson, Zoe Caldwell, Brian Dennehy, Karl Malden, Arthur & Barbara Gelb and Wendy Wasserstein.
