News Michael Imperioli's Studio Dante Presents 9/11 Drama Late Fragment, Begins Sept. 28 Francine Volpe's Late Fragment begins its world premiere Sept. 28 at Studio Dante with Michael Imperioli, screen star of "The Sopranos," co-directing.

Imperioli and Zetna Fuentes direct the work slated to open at the company's namesake theatre Oct. 1 for a run through Oct. 22.

Late Fragment finds a man who "flees the attack on the World Trade Center and returns home to face an impatient wife, their manipulative lawyer, and reporters desperate to spin his ordeal into a hero story," according to a release.

The cast features Ken Forman (Wilder, Wilder, Wilder), Dean Harrison (Macbeth, Measure for Measure), Michael Mosley (In Case You Forget), Nick Sandow ("Third Watch") and Jenna Stern (The Elephant Man).

The production team for Late Fragment includes resident Studio Dante designers Victoria Imperioli (set and costumes) and Tony Giovannetti (lighting). The work was previously scheduled for a February run, but postponed due to scheduling conflicts.

Playwright Volpe has also penned the one-act plays The Confession (Atlantic Theater), The Broker (Soho Rep), Call The Person You Love (DTW, Soho Rep) and When Everyone Was Looking (Soho Rep). Her full-length work Appreciation underwent a workshop production at The Juilliard School. Other works include Stars and Boy (developed for Soho Rep), the New Company commission Sweethearts which premiered in London in April. Imperioli founded Studio Dante in 2003 with his wife Victoria Imperioli to "house progressive new plays in a setting inspired by the grand architecture and design of traditional 19th Century venues."

As an actor, Imperioli has appeared on film in "Goodfellas," "Jungle Fever," "Malcolm X," "Shark Tale" (in voice), "Clockers," "Dead Presidents," and "Summer of Sam" — which he co-wrote with Victor Colicchio and executive produced. He has also appeared on the stage in Aven’ U Boys, Displaced Persons, Half Deserted Street and The Writing On The Wall & Little Blood Brother.

Studio Dante has previously produced Baptism by Fire, Ponies and Henry Flamethrowa. The company is "committed to producing writers who inhabit a fresh point of view and have the courage to investigate difficult emotional terrain."
