Gia Forakis directs the world premiere work set to begin Feb. 8 and open Feb. 16 for a run through March 19 at the downtown Manhattan venue.
Acts of Mercy spans "the course of one sweltering night [in which] two sons must reconcile themselves to their dying father hoping to gain redemption through small but life-giving, acts of mercy," according to show materials.
The cast features Veronica Cruz, José Febus (A Monster's Tale), Jenny Maguire (Karla), Bryant Mason, Andrés Munar (Kissing Fidel), Ivan Quintanilla and Tommy Schrider.
The design team includes Robin Vest (sets), Elizabeth Hope Clancy (costumes), Peter West (lights) and Daniel Baker (sound). Matthew Suttor provides original music and Anne Michelson serves as production stage manager.
Garcés — known as a director of such works as Kissing Fidel, The Cook, Havana is Waiting, Finer Noble Gases and Light Raise the Roof among others — has also penned points of departure, audiovideo, agua ardiente, caught (el sueño sueña el soñador), now and then, suits, frag, up for air, between visits, Punto Baldí and deeper, sandlot ball, tell her that, just the thought of someone and dirt and customs. The Rattlestick season continues next with Roberto Aguiree-Sacasa's Dark Matters slated for a May-June run.
